Duties

Help

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisory Recreation Assistant and within broad regulations and guidelines, has responsibility to lead the day to day operation of the storage lot, equipment rental and tour programs. Responsible for leading the work of other Recreation Assistants assigned to Outdoor Recreation unit. Distributes and balances workload among employees. Observes work in progress and adherence to quality and safety standards. Instructs and trains new employees. Provides input on performance and disciplinary problems to the Assistant Manager. Reports all repair and maintenance requirements according to established policy. Reports all violations of safety. Ensures accuracy of automated data base on equipment rental check-ins. Ensures adequate stock of supplies and equipment are available. Administor and lead tour programs. Develops detailed annual/quarterly adventure tour program calendars, confirms itineraries, ticketing, and reservations, plans and conducts pre and post trip meetings with drivers and volunteers. Plans and purchase menu food items. Ensures reports are completed and researched new trip locations. Manages the vehicle storage lots, to include lot inventories, payment dates and vacancies. Oversees and assists with duties associated with rental of equipment to include, but not limited to the following; verifying authorized users, computes and receives fees, uses desktop computer Windows base software applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access): equipment control and accountability; conduction pre/post rental inspections of equipment; accepts equipment reservations and properly accounts for deposits. Completes daily reports such as cashier reports and bank deposits. Answers telephones, greets customers, and assists them with rental transactions, class sign up for Aquatic or Adventure Tour Programs. Provides information regarding all aspects of the Equipment Rental and other Outdoor Recreation Programs. Assists with preventive and minor routine maintenance on rental equipment i.e., simple repairs and cleaning tents, tables and assorted camping equipment (cook stoves, battery-operated lights and propane cookers). On occasion, and in absence, will be required to operate a passenger vehicle on trips and tours. Performs other non-lead duties as Recreation Assistant. Performs minor grounds and facility maintenance such as fence repair, weed and trash removal and raking.

Qualifying Experience:
Sufficient experience which provided working familiarity and knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties. Ability to safeguard funds and equipment. Ability to resolve common arithmetic problems and make change. Must possess the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Must be able to routinely lift objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical and installation, state, and National Agency Checks. Availability to work weekends. Experience which demonstrates the ability to lead the work of others is desirable. Must possess and maintain valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record with no major violations due to own negligence. Knowledge of office automation software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher and RecTrac) is desired.

Education
