About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Eglin NAF Resource Management Laborers Office.

This is a NAF (Non-Appropriated Fund) position assigned to the 96th Force Support Squadron at Eglin AFB Florida. Position is Regular Part-time (RPT) guaranteed 20-34 hours per week and schedule may include weekends and holidays.

RPT employees receive benefits (Health/Life Insurance; 401K & AFNAF Retirement Plan; Annual/Sick Leave and Holidays).

Duties

Help

The purpose of the position is to perform manual laboring tasks involving the use of heavy hand tools and heavy power equipment associated with maintenance of the Force Support Squadron (FSS) facilities and grounds.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs a variety of general laboring tasks primarily involved with maintenance of the facilities and grounds at and around FSS facilities to also include the Youth Center and Youth Program athletic fields and exterior play space areas. Work involves the performance of tasks requiring prior experience and the use of very heavy physical effort, (assists in the maintenance and grooming of grounds including, but not limited to mowing, weeding, and tilling to prepare flower beds and bedding plants). Uses a variety of hand tools such as field painting/striping machines, rakes, hoes, hammers, cutters, pliers, and wrenches in performing simple repair work and/or in assisting others in more complex tasks.

2. Operates walking or riding-type power mowers (e.g., one or more cutting decks, mechanical controls and attachable implements) and/or simple riding-type mowers (e.g., a fixed or floating cutting deck(s) with limited adjustments) and string trimmers in trimming goals, infields, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; Drags, rakes and maintains dirt & grass infields, sets bases and lines on fields prior to practices and games. Cleans equipment and removes debris from field areas and buildings. Loads, unloads, moves, and stacks bulky items from trucks and other conveyances using hand trucks or dollies. Performs minor facility repairs such as replacing light bulbs, hanging and affixing equipment, moves and arrange furniture as directed.

3. Maintains gasoline, oil and other equipment fluid levels daily. Reports equipment problems and failures to supervisors. Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment as directed. Returns equipment to designated location. Performs other related work as directed.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience which demonstrated the ability to operate, control and clean heavy powered equipment. Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions. Physically able to frequently lift and carry heavy objects weighing more than 50 pounds. Work that requires the skills and knowledge in operating heavy equipment, continually involves extreme physical effort; such as, constantly lifting or carrying objects weighing 80 to 100 pounds or more with assistance.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
