Duties

Help

  • Assists the Force Support Squadron NAF IT Specialist in all matters relating to data systems and communication hardware/software applications used within 412 Force Support Squadron MWR activities.
  • This includes, but not limited to, supporting programs in use within the organization using current versions of Microsoft Office and train personnel in their use.
  • Install software and hardware and provide user training as required.
  • Propose and advise the NAF IT Support Manager on hardware and software upgrades to keep pace with changing technologies.
  • Provide technical support for commercial-off the shelf (COTS) applications and or legacy systems, such as, Services' Employee Timekeeping System (SETS), point of sale (PoS) systems, and current versions of Microsoft Operating systems, anti-virus software, and network email and storage.
  • Assists in the installation and implementation of new computer systems
  • Assists with risk analysis documentation
  • Develops operating instructions; and provides technical assistance to Force Support Squadron computer users.
  • Assists in turning in outdated ADPE equipment to DRMO and/or NAF sales.
  • Serves as Computer Support Administrator (CSA).
  • PXE imaging of PCs and laptops. Information Technology (IT) related experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication and 4) Problem Solving.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.

  • May work uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and down days.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Working knowledge of most Microsoft Windows operating systems. Must have working knowledge to install operating systems and train users. Possess sufficient knowledge of electrical requirements and communications cabling to conduct surveys and propose necessary upgrades required to install new and replacement systems. Must have knowledge of current COTS hardware, software and operating systems to be able to make well informed recommendations for the purchase of new equipment and to actively participate in the source selection process. Position is a drug-tested position. Incumbent may be subject to random testing for drug use. Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. Pre-employment physical is required. Must be able to work in enclosed spaces. Working knowledge of Cisco operating systems and hardware is desired. Must have valid driver's license. This is a drug testing designated position. Incumbent is subject to random testing.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
