As a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5803-10, you will:

This position is located in the Air National Guard, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Vehicle Management Flight. The purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate supervisors, work leaders, and workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of the Vehicle Management Flight and to perform associated nonsupervisory work.
The flight is responsible for overall management, maintenance, and repair of the wing's vehicle fleet and account for and maintain vehicle assets so they are safe, efficient, environmentally sound and meet the unit's needs.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Open to the rank of MSgt to CMSgt. Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following AFSC upon date of hire: AFSC 2T3XX. The AFSC(s) require an aptitude of M40 and G38 a physical profile of 333333G. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full-time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.

** Note: Due to the nature of this position, you are required to maintain a state operator's license.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training.

  • Knowledge to determine resource requirements, materials, number of employees and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long range work schedules.
  • Skill in providing information and advice to higher level supervisors, management officials, and staff organizations on feasibility of work assignments, budget estimates, and workload data to assist in developing or reviewing proposed long-range schedules and work requirements.
  • Skill in explaining work requirements and operating instructions to subordinates.
  • Skill in balancing workloads to achieve the most effective work operations.

MILITARY INCENTIVE:

Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position over 180 days will result in suspension or termination of these military incentives.
