INTRODUCTION:
This position serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (System Administrator) within the Information Management Branch, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division, Marine Corps Base, Camp S.D. Butler, Okinawa, Japan. This position is responsible for the daily operation, security, and administration of Windows-based network operating systems (NOS), enterprise applications, email systems for sending and receiving communication, email platforms (such as Microsoft Exchange, Teams, and SharePoint) for collaboration and content management, directory services, database systems, and backup and recovery solutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of enterprise IT systems. This includes monitoring system health, diagnosing and resolving performance issues, and implementing preventative maintenance strategies to mitigate downtime and security risks. Configure and manage Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise-wide authentication services.
Perform system security monitoring and compliance enforcement, including patch management, security audits, and adherence to DoD cybersecurity policies. Coordinate with higher-level agencies for directory synchronization and system policy enforcement, ensuring compliance with IAT Level II security standards.
Manage user accounts, group policies, and access permissions, ensuring data integrity and system security. Administering backup and disaster recovery solutions, maintaining enterprise antivirus and endpoint security systems, and troubleshooting system outages, network response issues, and security access problems.
Track and maintain IT service tickets, document system configurations and procedures, and provide technical support to end-users. Collaboration with IT leadership to research and implement system upgrades, software deployments, and lifecycle management strategies to improve overall system performance.
Attends technical training, conferences, and meetings to stay informed of emerging technologies and best practices. The role also involves asset management and tracking of Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE), ensuring compliance with inventory control policies and security guidelines.
Provide World-Class Customer Service, ensuring effective communication and prompt resolution of IT-related issues. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Network Manager.
