Duties

This position is located with the JFHQ - G3 in Phoenix, Arizona. This is an Army National Guard dual status technician position that requires military membership, compatible military skill assignment and classification. The purpose of this position is to assist the State Training Officer and/or G-3 Sergeant Major within the directorate. Under the direction of the State Training Officer and/or G-3 Sergeant Major this position assists in the accomplishment of work performed in the areas of operations and training.

  • ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the G3.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver’s license.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance within 12 months of appointment.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-3/PFC to E-6/SSG

Compatible Military Assignments: Must possess an Army MOS

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Knowledge of Army or Air Force education and training programs regarding their principles and procedures. Experience in performing interviews and counseling techniques; training techniques and instruction methods; task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products; effective writing skills; editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures. Experience in scheduling training events and facilities; supporting assistance visits and training meetings; or assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development; education institution registration requirements; and military personnel classification system and policies. Experience in the capabilities of communicative interpersonal skill applications and distance learning concepts. Experience as a participant and presenter during training and military or civilian conference events.

Education

1. Knowledge of a wide range of military training and operations regulations, policies, procedures and concepts for the purpose of providing comprehensive guidance, policies, and plans for units and elements within the command.

2. Knowledge of training and operations functions to establish, direct, and conduct subordinate unit inspections and assistance visits, analyze results, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and guidance.

3. Knowledge of military training and operations of the organization sufficient to assess the effectiveness of planned and completed training activities in meeting mission essential tasks.

4. Knowledge of training activities sufficient to assess facilities, training areas, and range requirements to ensure the suitability of available training sites.

5. Ability to communicate through both oral and written communications sufficient to communicate ideas and guidance utilizing presentations, briefings, and correspondence.
