Duties

Help
  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools.
  • Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies, rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from hazards.
  • Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures.
  • Attends aquatic and/or safety training as directed.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.

  • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements
  • Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty
  • Pre-employment physical is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Must participate in all required trainings, rescue drills, and simulations.
  • All required certificates must be kept current.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a childcare Tier 1 background investigation

Qualifications

**Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria.**

Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

You must submit the required Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certificates as "other" with your application. If currently enrolled, a copy of your receipt must be uploaded. Applications missing proof of certifications or proof of enrollment will be marked ineligible.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
