Duties

Help
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, composed of architects, engineers, geologists, environmental planners and safety professionals.
  • Direct Architect-Engineering (A-E) resources.
  • Serve as Design Manager at both the Program and Project level.
  • Provide input (i.e. scope of tasks, schedules, cost estimates, quality control measures, etc.) to the Project Management Plan (PMP).
  • Develop the Scope of Work for A-E and in-house projects based on input from other technical personnel and basic project information such as type and size of required installation, directives, feasibility studies, and liaison with pertinent contacts.
  • Recommend selection of, negotiates with, and manages A-E contractors in support of assigned products.
  • Solve, advise on, or evaluate complex project and design management problems.
  • Reviews work by less experienced Technical Leads for accuracy and provides guidance.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
  • Must be will and able to wear protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must complete 40 hours HAZWOPER training and annual refresher.
  • Must complete routine and special medical examinations because of potential exposure and the significant physical stress factors that occur while wearing protective equipment.

Qualifications

Applicants will be referred periodically throughout the open period. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working on and/or leading design teams for Military and/or Interagency Support (ISS) Programs; experience as a senior architect or engineer; and planning, designing, and compiling construction documents for Military and/or IIS projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
