We are seeking a System Engineer to join our Operations team in the Office of Legislative Computer Systems. This position works in maintenance and production environments to address problems and challenges encountered during equipment and systems operations, handling, assembly, disassembly, inspection, testing and repair. This entry level systems engineering position provides a unique and challenging opportunity within an exclusive mission critical environment. The job involves a variety of work revolving around maintaining and supporting the Electronic Voting System used in the U.S. House of Representatives:

  • Responsible for the daily operation and health of Electronic Voting System (EVS).   Provide support by performing daily system checks, monitoring availability of all hardware, software, and key processes, reviewing system logs, monitoring EVS during vote sessions, and verifying completion of all scheduled jobs and backups.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements to enhance system performance and minimize downtime.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues with guidance from senior engineers and SMEs, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Support day-to-day monitoring of system performance and use monitoring tools (e.g., Syslog-ng) to detect anomalies and take corrective actions.
  • Maintain documentation for production issues, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations, contributing to the shared knowledge base.
  • Work with a team and be willing to support operations on as needed basis.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform the major duties described above.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or other related engineering degree program from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years or more Experience in production support, systems administration, or related technical roles.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a government issued security clearance at the Top-Secret level, it is a contingency of employment.
