The successful candidate will perform the full range of IT Specialist duties. Such duties include but are not limited to the following:
You must meet the qualifications for this position by no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Selectees may be required to serve a trial period to assess their overall fitness and qualifications for continued employment. The trial period for new employees is two years. New employees who are preference eligible veterans serve a one-year trial period.
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
To qualify at the GG-13 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GG-12 grade level which includes knowledge of and experience in information systems security methods and procedures to ensure the application of appropriate security measures to assignments AND experience analyzing data to troubleshoot problems, evaluating established methods and procedures, and performing other similar analytical functions.
To qualify at the GG-12 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GG-11 grade level which includes knowledge of information systems security methods and procedures to ensure the application of appropriate security measures to assignments AND the ability to analyze data to troubleshoot problems, evaluate established methods and procedures, and perform other similar analytical functions.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
1. Demonstrated experience in computer systems analysis and design sufficient to independently perform work starting from the definition of the need for accomplishing work processes by computer through establishing system requirements, analyzing hardware and software needs, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the system.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with microcomputers, other types of computers, Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN), Inter- and intranet, Client/Server and related software, hardware, and networks. Understanding of the logical working of computers, networks, file servers, utility programs and associated software/hardware configurations and interrelationships.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Communication Security process or roles and responsibilities.
4. Ability to communicate effectively and to work effectively in a team environment as well as to display initiative, tact, and resourcefulness in a high-profile customer service setting. Ability to present IT concepts and software functions in a clear, simple manner.
5. Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with project-based information technology tasks and facilitating the work of others involved in group projects.

The duty location of this position is Atlanta, GA. In general, employees are expected to be in the office 4 days per pay period. Telework schedules are approved, on a case-by-case basis.
