The incumbent serves as the silvicultural specialist and program leader responsible for the development, coordination, review, and prioritization of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Oregon/Washington (ORWA) reforestation and forest development programs.
Serves as policy advisor and authoritative expert on the silvicultural components of the forestry programs, including implementation of the Western Oregon Resource Management Plans and other forest health and restoration initiatives.
Provides senior technical silviculture advice and support to the ORWA districts on reforestation and forest development, assuring that district offices are practicing a sustainable forest management program (including intensive silvicultural practices related to reforestation, stand maintenance and protection, density control, growth enhancement, wood quality and genetic improvement) and responding to emerging biotic or abiotic challenges.
Conducts monitoring, review and evaluation of ongoing silvicultural practices implemented by ORWA districts to ensure conformance with existing land use and activity plans.
