This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Wind River Agency in Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards ).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C, Qualification Standard Handbook) will be used in determining applicants' qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through the experience shown in your written resume and your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  • Job Element 1: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT): You have performed Maintenance Worker tasks in a general nature necessary for the proper operation, maintenance and repair of buildings, sheds, and facilities, water and heating systems, pumps, fans or motors, or other equipment. Including carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, plastering and other trades, gas and electrical welding and the operation of motor vehicle and composable & equipment. Sub-journeyman skills in a variety of crafts.

Physical Demands: When driving vehicles, must reach, bend, turn, or move hands, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
Employee must also perform duties that require standing, climbing, bending, stretching, and sometimes working in cramped hard-to-reach positions. Lifts and carries tools, materials, and ladders weighting up to approximately 50 lbs.

Working Conditions: Works indoors with adequate heat, light and ventilation. Exposed to possible cuts, bruises, falls, minor burns, tripping hazards and the possibility of shock if caution is not used in testing of work. Outside work is usually in favorable condition but occasionally done in adverse weather conditions, in the extreme heat or cold temperatures, dusty, windy and frequently subject to disagreeable orders.
