This position is located at Department of Commerce OIG, Office of Audit and Evaluation. As a Supvy Computer Scientist/Supvy Computer Engineer/Supvy Electronics Engineer (Cybersecurity), you will be responsible for planning and managing evaluations of systems development, acquisition, operations, and IT security in all DOC bureaus, as well as for evaluating the DOC's performance of its information resources management responsibilities. .
As a Supvy Computer Scientist/Supvy Computer Engineer/Supvy Electronics Engineer (Cybersecurity), you will:
- Oversee the security assessment program including security controls, system architecture implementations, and organizational and system risk management decisions ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all the Department's systems, networks, and data.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the IT security Division using a quality control system to ensure that established professional standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in the conduct of audits, evaluations, the resolution of recommendations, and other communications.
- Conduct independent comprehensive assessments of the management, operational, and technical security and enhancements employed within or inherited by an information technology (IT) system to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls.
- Plan and schedule work to be accomplished by subordinates and assign work both verbally and through various automated systems based on priorities, difficulty, requirements, and capabilities of subordinates.
- Represent OAE and/or the Inspector General in conferences and negotiations with DOC officials at all levels, representatives of other Offices of Inspector General, the General Accountability Office, other Federal agencies, intergovernmental groups, or professional organizations on matters relating to system evaluation functions with authority to speak for the OAE or the Inspector General, as appropriate.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
