This position is with the Office of Inspector General, Office of Audits, Inspections, and Evaluations' Western Region Audit Division. This office is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and conducting audits, inspections, and evaluations relating to Department of the Interior (DOI) programs and operations, including, but not limited to, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in such programs and operations of the DOI employees, contractors, grantees, lessees, or any other persons or entities doing business with the DOI.
As an Intern (Auditing) your normal duties will include:
The incumbent of this position serves as an Intern under the Pathways Internship Program. This program is designed to provide students enrolled at educational institutions at all levels (high school to graduate level) with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore the benefits and conditions of Federal employment. Employment under this authority requires the execution of an Internship Program Participant Agreement that outlines work and academic responsibilities.
Upon successful completion of the Pathways Internship Program, the agency may non-competitively convert a Pathways Intern who is a U.S. Citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Intern meets the following: 1. U.S. Citizenship; 2. Successful completion of academic course of study, degree, diploma or certificate related to the position; Or qualifying career or technical education program; 3. Completion of a minimum of 480 hours of work experience under the Internship Program; 4. Meet the OPM Qualification requirements for the position to which the intern may be converted; and 5. Maintain acceptable performance. If an intern is converted, the position may have a full-performance level of GS-13. If the Intern is not converted, the position will be terminated.
