Performance of a variety of duties required in the routine operation, maintenance and minor repairs of buildings and related facilities, including roads and trails, landscaping and grounds care. Janitorial work to include daily cleaning of restrooms, public areas and offices including washing, stripping and waxing floors; vacuuming carpets and washing windows and mirrors. Minor carpentry repairs to building and structure components such as roofs, walls, ceilings, doors and windows. Use electrical power tools to cut, router and sand informational signs. Minor plumbing repairs include replacing washers, valves and water supply lines. Painting and preparing surfaces; both interior and exterior wood, plaster and concrete. Minor electrical repairs and use of welding and metal cutting equipment are also frequently performed. Assist in concrete repairs to walks, trails and brick or wood structures. Use of riding lawn mowers is a part of the grounds care duties. Must be able to operate standard transmission vehicles including 4 x 4 pickup and garden tractor mower. The position will include exposure to difficult field conditions (high heat/humidity, biting insects). Incumbent must be in excellent physical condition, be able to do considerable walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing, crawling, working outdoors in high humidity, wind, dust and temperatures that can reach 100+ degrees. Employee will be required to complete a pre-employment background security check.

Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Temporary seasonal employees can only maintain their non-competitive rehire eligibility if they work no more than a combined total of Temporary NTE less than 1040 hours anywhere in the National Park Service (NPS) within their established service year. Accordingly, non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position appropriate for temporary appointment with the same qualification requirements (5 CFR 316.402[b][7]), based on series and grade, anywhere in the major subdivision (NPS).
If you have held a temporary seasonal appointment in the past 12 months and have already worked the maximum temporary appointment less than 1040 hours during that period, you are still welcome to apply.
