The GS-07 Veterans Claims Examiner (VCE) is the trainee for the VCE Series. In this grade, the VCE becomes familiar with the range of claims, regulations and develops a process for the independent adjudication of claims. He/she will be formally trained to perform core duties assigned to a team. They will adjudicate claims for education benefits increasingly difficult issues as they prepare for the eventual adjudication of the full gamut of education claims.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. The full performance level of this position is grade GS-09.
