Summary

As an Administrative Specialist, you will manage the documentation and related resources used by the Center engineering staff, the Center Chief Engineer, and all support staff. These materials support general research, lessons learned, best practices, and other knowledge related topics to be used to improve work processes and to improve the success of projects conducted at Armstrong.

Duties

Help
  • Compile insights, lessons learned, and best practices via regular Program Reviews, and Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) facilitated Pause and Learn sessions.
  • Provide awareness program and basic skill training of Knowledge Management to Center staff and the next generation (future staff, interns).
  • Promote knowledge-sharing activities such as forums, events, publications, etc. sponsored by NASA, Centers, or Mission Directorates.
  • Support the Scientific and Technical Information (STI) process and yearly compliance review as implemented at the Center.
  • Responsible for library collections development, acquisitions of works, preservation of appropriate hard copy and electronic media collections, and evaluating emerging information technology resources in the field of library services.
  • Lead the transition of the current library into a primary document delivery service by developing and implementing new plans, processes, policies and training materials as appropriate.
  • Support NASA Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests when required.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.


To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:

  • Evaluating the efficiency of a library program and its administrative processes by supporting collection development, acquiring materials, preserving media, and assessing new technologies;
  • Utilizing computer-based tools, databases, or collaborative platforms (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint) to manage information resources;
  • Developing plans, processes, policies, and training to support an organization's library digital transition.
* A Master's in Library Science is preferred but not required for this position.
