AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Applicants have to be US citizens who are authorized command-sponsored dependents of civilian or military personnel stationed with official Government Orders at US NAS Sigonella, Italy. ACTIVE DUTY members are eligible to apply for flexible positions and, if selected, work during their off-duty hours as long as they obtain their Command's written authorization.

Duties

  • Incumbent is responsible for the operation of the theater from one hour before movie time until theater is secured after the last showing.
  • Opens and secures theater facility as well as secures the Midtown building on nights in which the Theater closes last.
  • Ensures theater is setup to receive patrons, including ticket counter and concession stand and projection booth.
  • Ensures that the evening movies are ready to be shown.
  • Ensures the projector and sound system are in good working order prior to the start time of each showing. Sets up, operates and maintains equipment to produce coordinating effects of sound and on screen. Example of equipment includes, but not limited to, motion picture projectors, sound-reproducing units (e.g. speakers, microphones and amps) and audio-visual equipment (e.g. laptop and portable projectors).
  • Performs frequent checks inside the auditorium to ensure sound level and picture quality are properly set.
  • Ensures NO glass, or strollers are brought into the theater.
  • Conducts security checks of oversized bags and backpacks of patrons entering the facility.
  • Reports any problems or incidents to the Theater Manager.
  • In case of an emergency, oversees the evacuation of the theater.
  • Ensures movie schedules and posters are posted in a timely manner
  • Controls change fund(s) and verifies all sales from ticket and concession sales at the end of each shift.
  • Ensures NASSIG instructions governing movies are followed.
  • Handles unruly patrons and in cases of continued disturbances contacts the security office for further assistance.
  • Performs Sales Clerk and cash handling duties, as needed/scheduled.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Work schedule is subject to change and may include working early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts.
  • Minimum age is 18 years old and out of high school.
  • Will be required to obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR/First Aid/AED certification, Customer Service Training and MWR Food and Beverage Alcohol Safety Certification, within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Position involves carrying, pushing or picking up objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
  • Male candidates born after December 31, 1959, and at least 18 years of age, are required to certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System (Attach proof of registration).
  • Civilian candidates must possess: No-Fee Passport (containing VISA and Statement), Sponsor's Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Orders, including page 2 if necessary, or Command-Sponsorship authorization, and Sojourner's Permit/Application Letter.
  • Active duty candidates must possess: Military Orders and Command's written authorization.

Qualifications

Recreation Aid, NF-0189-01 (Entry level): Three (3) months of general experience or High-School Diploma.

Recreation Assistant, NF-0189-02 (Target level): Six (6) months of general experience and six (6) months of specialized experience equivalent to NF-01 level OR two (2) years of education above high school that included at least 12 semester hours in courses related to recreation (e.g. basic psychology, group dynamics, physical education, arts and crafts, etc.).

If qualified at the Entry level, incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the Target level upon meeting qualification requirements and at management's discretion.

General experience: any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position.

Specialized experience: experience at the NF-01 level (or equivalent) that is typically in or related to the work of this position.

At the target level, to determine order of referral, qualified candidates will be evaluated in conjunction with the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (K.S.A.):

  1. Basic computer knowledge.
  2. Ability to set up, operate and adjust motion picture projectors, sound-reproducing and audio-visual equipment to achieve proper size, illumination, and focus of the image.
  3. Customer service and leadership skills.
  4. Ability to handle money.

Education

Contractors and their family members are also ineligible if they do not have civilian component status.
