As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist in the Oklahoma PFW Program, the incumbent's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Implement PFW projects and coordinate conservation provisions of the 1996 Farm Bill, its amendments, and future Farm Bills enacted by Congress.
Provide guidance to private land owners with regard to all aspects of resource protection and restoration on private lands, with an emphasis on complex interactions involving wetlands, migratory birds, endangered, threatened, and candidate species and other Federal trust responsibilities.
Provide coordination with Oklahoma PFW Program, Regional Office, other Tulsa Field Office personnel, other Federal and State resource agencies, conservation groups, and private individuals.

BASIC QUALIFICATION(S): To qualify for this position applicants must meet the following basic education and/or experience requirements.

Successful completion of a full four-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position. (Note: Transcripts MUST be submitted to document educational accomplishments.); OR
An appropriate combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major (i.e. 24 semester hours) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position; PLUS appropriate experience or additional course work. The quality of the combination must demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four year course of study with a major as described above. Note: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Applicants will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

PROMOTION POTENTIAL: This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed represent the full performance level of GS-12. At lower grade levels, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.The selectee may be promoted without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

APPOINTMENT ELIGIBILITIES

The LAND MANAGEMENT WORKFORCE FLEXIBILITY ACT (LMWFA), P.L. 114-47 allows certain individuals who currently are or formerly were under time-limited competitive appointments at certain land management agencies to compete under merit promotion procedures.

Current Appointees must have (1) been hired under competitive examining procedures to a time-limited appointment with a land management agency; (2) served under one (or more) time-limited appointments with a land management agency for 24+ months without a break in service of two or more years; and (3) performed at an acceptable level.
Former Appointees must (1) have been hired under competitive examining procedures to a time-limited appointment with a land management agency; (2) have served under one (or more) time-limited appointments with a land management agency for 24+ months without a break in service of two or more years; (3) apply for a position within two years after separation; (4) have been separated for reasons other than misconduct or performance; and (5) have performed at an acceptable level.

PUBLIC LAND CORPS (PLC) HIRING AUTHORITY: PLC participants who complete program requirements are eligible for noncompetitive hiring status for federal positions. In order to be eligible, a former member must provide, as part of their application, documentation verifying their eligibility and must:

Have served as a qualified youth on an appropriate conservation project, completing a minimum of 640 hours of satisfactory service that included as least 120 hours through the PLC;
