As a Geospatial Ecologist/Geographer/Ecologist Specialist for the Division of Resource Services, you will perform the following duties:
You will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit your college transcripts or a listing of your college courses that includes hours and grades.

In addition to meeting the education requirement, you must possess one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: experience in applying a wide range of Geospatial Ecologist theories, principles, concepts, practices, standards; provide geospatial data, knowledge in applications and tools for the bureau as a consultant, advisor and lead; experience in coordinating a variety of projects, facilitate cooperation; foster commitment and team spirit; working with others to achieve and accomplish project goals; experience applying geospatial principals/technologies for fire-related business applications.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position has a positive education requirement which requires that you meet one of the following education requirements:
0150 series: Degree in Geography, or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields -OR- combination of education and experience--- courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. 0401 series: Degree in Biological Sciences, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position -OR- a combination of education and experience---courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. 0408 series: Degree in Biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. BLM is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual for the Geospatial Ecologist (Fire Liaison) position to serves as a senior consultant and technical advisor in developing, implementing, and managing national geospatial technological applications.
The BLM manages more land - 245 million surface acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western States, including Alaska. The BLM, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
