At the GS-03 level of this position, you will:
-Perform routine assignments that are clear, direct and often involve standardized steps, processes, or methods;
-Assists with routine steps in science studies
-Participate in regulatory/compliance work;
-Assists senior staff, project officers, analytical staff, and other staff as necessary.
At the GS-04 level of this position, you will:
-Perform routine and limited assignments pertaining to the scientific mission of the organization;
-Assist Senior staff and/or project officers and/or analytical staff as necessary:
-Perform support duties such as collecting references and/or organization files;
-Assist in program planning for program management of environmental programs.
At the GS-05 level of this position, you will:
-Perform routine and limited assignments pertaining to the scientific mission of the organization;
-Assist senior staff, project officers, analytical staff, and other staff as necessary;
-Complete developmental assignments that expand your understanding of concepts, underlying principles, and program requirements and procedures;
-Assists with summary of environmental program information data for use in preparing reports and program evaluations;
-Performs routine tasks in science studies of a standard nature on regulatory and compliance issues and problems.
You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or inter-agency agreements.
You must have and maintain good academic standing as defined by your academic institution.
If you are selected, the entire period served under the Internship Program will be a trial period.
This position is designated as Low Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.

In addition to the eligibility requirements for the Pathways Internship Program, Pathways Interns qualify for an initial appointment based on their educational achievements as described below:
To qualify for the GS-03 level, you need to have completed one full academic year of post-high school study.
To qualify for the GS-04 level, you need to have completed two full academic years of post-high school study or an associate’s degree.
To qualify for the GS-05 level, you need to have completed four academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree.
Pathways Internship Program:
This program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. The position must be related to the student’s academic field of study or the student’s career interests. Salary will be based on the grade level for which you are selected and the duty location of the position.

Except in special circumstances, those new to the federal government will be hired at the starting salary (step 1) of the applicable grade range listed above.
Position has portable work and selectee may be authorized to telework after meeting eligibility requirements if approved by the supervisor/manager.
