As a Natural Resource Specialist, GS-0401-09, with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to:
In order to qualify for the Natural Resource Specialist, GS-0401-09 position, you must meet the basic education requirement of a Bachelor's degree or higher in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience. Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic education requirements, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level working with organizations, state and local government agencies, volunteers and local communities to implement river conservation and recreation programs which includes: water resource management; land use planning; natural, cultural and recreational resource assessments; development of alternative resource management strategies; river conservation issues; assisting in the preparation of professionally acceptable planning and/or compliance documents.

Master's degree OR equivalent Graduate degree OR two full years of graduate level education leading to a Master's degree with a major in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position such as: natural resource conservation, biology, fisheries, wildlife management, forestry, water resource management.
