Duties
The selectee will serve as a Lead Chemist. Typical work assignments include:
- Making final decisions that may become Division policy and procedure.
- Identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level, and/or occupational specialization.
- Serving as a technical authority by providing chemistry and other scientific expertise related to the chemical aspects of public health issues related to tobacco.
- Providing consultation and advice to the CTP leadership, scientists throughout FDA, the regulated industry, and public officials in
areas of tobacco products as related to the chemistry discipline. - Serving as a senior regulatory reviewer in CTP/OS, with responsibility for analyzing and determining the adequacy of data and tests
submitted by a manufacturer.

Qualifications
The position of Lead Chemist falls within the 1320 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-14, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 01/06/2025.
Basic Requirements
