Duties
As a Visual Information Specialist, GS-1084-12 DE, you will perform the following duties:
- Train NSF staff on proper NSF branding, advise clients on the appropriate brand application for their project, and recommend the most feasible solution for challenging situations.
- Provide consulting and expertise from a designer's perspective to help develop strong, visually appealing products that reach appropriate audiences.
- Ensure compliance with Section 508 Amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Plain Writing Act of 2010 requirements before release.
- Engage with internal and stakeholders to assess user experience, challenges, and opportunities.
- Develop and create products including document layouts, infographics, web graphics, brochures, factsheets, flyers, and logos.
- Make final reviews of proposed visual communication for style, design, layout, flow, and branding aspects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must possess both the specialized experience and the selective factor.
Basic Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal government developing, designing, and creating brand standards and policies; and reviewing and approving materials to ensure alignment with brand standards which represent an organization.
Selective Factor: I have experience successfully launching a new or updated brand management policy to internal and external stakeholders.
Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) & other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, & skills & can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
