At the full performance level, major duties include:
Conducts audits, evaluations, and reviews with significant scope and mission impact, assessing compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness of programs.
Develops comprehensive project guides and programs that encompass the intricate functions of significant FDIC functions or multi-mission activities.
Develops segments of audit, evaluation, and/or review plans for highly complex FDIC programs and operations.
Plans work requirements to meet project objectives, including developing time frames and necessary resources.
Evaluates management processes and ensures that ideas, facts, conclusions, and recommendations are presented clearly, concisely, and logically.
Provides technical advice and support to OIG management on projects and internal controls, including summarizing technical issues upon request.
Prepares major areas of complex reports in a clear, concise, and organized manner incorporating comprehensive cross-references of supporting documentation.
Provides guidance on project areas with broad scope and significant mission impact, particularly in resolving complex problems involving potentially contentious decisions.
Serves as an advisor to AEC management and FDIC officials on project-related issues and serves as a liaison for project-related responsibilities.
Serves in other capacities, such as participating on interagency audits, evaluations, or reviews, or greater OIG community initiatives from CIGIE and the Federal Audit Executive Committee (FAEC).
Responsible for drafting potential finding outlines, to include condition, criteria, cause, effect, and corresponding recommendations, and completing assigned areas of project reports in accordance with applicable standards and policies.
Assists in briefing or briefs management on project objectives, procedures, and scope at entrance conferences.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. All applicants MUST meet one of the basic qualification requirements AND the specialized experience described below for this position:
Basic Qualification Requirement:
(1) Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. OR
(2) Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. For the CG-9: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 7 grade level or above in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's equivalent graduate degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. OR
Combination of education and experience. This is creditable providing the combination consists of 100% of the requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered as qualifying education.
For the CG-11: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 9 grade level or above in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. OR
Combination of education and experience. This is creditable providing the combination consists of 100% of the requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
