Duties
- Provide supervisory leadership and direction to a subordinate staff of information technology specialists.
- Oversee the daily activities of these employees from both personal and programmatic direction perspectives.
- Provide strategic consultation to NINDS, NIH, and HHS leadership.
- Develop and maintain an annual IT budget for the Network Services and contribute to the development of the Service Area and Office-wide budgets.
- Serve as a project manager and resource manager for projects involving engineering operations.
- Track projects and assigns resources to projects following established project management standards and methodologies.
- Provide assistance and guidance to resolve any unusual or complex engineering problems that may negatively affect existing systems.
- Direct the development and documentation of standard operating procedures for network operations.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Supervisory IT Specialist (Network), you must have IT-related experience as described below. The experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. IT-related experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies listed below:
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal Government performing the following types of tasks: designing and integrating network systems with network infrastructure; troubleshooting problems with network and communications facilities and services; installing network hardware and software fixes and upgrades; defining security requirements for an IT network; instructing other IT Specialists in performing such work with networks.
