The Applegate Field Office manages nearly 1.75 million acres of public land which straddles the border of northeast California and northwest Nevada. From beautiful Klamath and Shasta National Forests on the west, to the towering Warner Mountains, and east into the high desert valleys and mountains of northwestern Nevada.
The Ukiah Field Office boundary includes approximately 270,000 acres of BLM-managed surface acres and 214,000 additional subsurface acres (mineral estate) in northern California. The geographic area includes all BLM-managed public lands within the counties of Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Napa, Marin, Mendocino (south of the City of Willits), Solano, Sonoma and Yolo. Approximately 1.5 million people live within this region.
The BLM Mother Lode Field Office manages over 230,000 acres of public land in Central California. These lands are scattered within Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Mariposa, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Yuba counties. Areas of interest include the Cosumnes River Preserve; Pine Hill Preserve; Red Hills Area of Critical Environmental Concern; the North Fork American and Merced Wild & Scenic Rivers; as well as highly visited recreation areas along the South Fork American River, the South Yuba River, and the Mokelumne River.
