WHAT IS THE PLANNING & FINANCE DIVISION? The Planning & Finance Division (PFD) has a variety of responsibilities for the Office of Chief Counsel including, formulation and execution of Counsel's annual budget, performance metrics and reporting, corporate data analysis, coordination of Counsel's case management systems, internal survey design, administration, and analysis, strategic planning, business continuity planning, and program administration. PFD is staffed by Management and Budget Analysts as well as Systems Coordinators. PFD produces regular workload and resource reports (e.g., quarterly business performance reviews) and analysis that supports program costing (e.g., user fee cost-setting). PFD also responds to GAO, TIGTA, IRS CFO, and others on topics that require organizational and management data. In addition, PFD often collaborates with and cross assigns analysts to other Counsel Business Units when the projects require PFD skill sets or custom analytics (e.g., employee engagement, Enterprise Risk Management, and change management).
As Management Analyst Trainee based in the Office's Planning and Finance Division you will gain exposure to data analysis, survey design & administration, information systems projects, performance management, emergency preparedness, staffing analytics, human resources and training development, program management, and other challenging work. By offering a broad exposure to multiple areas, our internship is a great place to start for aspiring public sector administrators.
The following are the duties of the Student Trainee (Management Analyst) at the GS-07. You will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this developmental position.
