The Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce is seeking a person with exceptional analytical, organizational and interpersonal communication skills to join our team of international technical assistance attorneys. The applicant's role as an Attorney-Advisor will include assessing the legal needs of host countries and then designing and implementing technical assistance to address those needs. CLDP attorneys are the primary implementers for the Office of General Counsel's international development programs. In this position, you will consult with other U.S. government agencies, foreign government officials, and members of the private sector to assess development needs and to design and implement assistance programs. This position supports U.S. government efforts to improve the business environment in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Pakistan.
Law Degree and Bar Membership: Incumbent must have graduated from a law school that is accredited by the American Bar Association, must be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Colombia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court, in good character; and in full compliance with continuing legal education requirements of an appropriate bar. The
incumbent must maintain this professional qualification at all times as a condition of employment.
This position does not confer non-competitive conversion to the competitive service. Acceptance of an excepted service appointment from applicants in the competitive service will require a written statement of understanding when voluntarily leaving the competitive service.
