Duties
The incumbent will:
- Serve as the alter ego to the Center Director, providing executive leadership, direction, planning, coordination, and strategic vision to the Center on policies, activities, and operations in the scientific management of center programs.
- Provide scientific guidance and leadership to international, national, state and/or local government agencies, universities, health-related organizations, private and public foundations, and professional associations, in activities to improve critical public health problems/issues.
- Serve as scientific advisor to the Center Director, and other senior staff, on science issues in public health, medical science, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, behavioral science, and related disciplines, which are frequently complex or controversial and often involving analyses and assessments resulting in policy decisions along with CDC's relationships with other U.S. governmental agencies (Federal, state and local, as well as international governments and domestic and international non-governmental organizations).
- Serve as a supervisor and manager with joint authority over the substantive programs, missions, and functions of the Center.
- Represent the Center with CDC leadership at all levels and with external partners to ensure that the organization is consistent with Agency goals.
