Duties
- Serves as a Regulatory Project Manager and is responsible for the processing of all permit applications for work on a given geographic area.
- Modifies standard practices and adapt techniques to solve a variety of Regulatory problems and projects relating to navigable waterway.
- Consults engineers and lawyers on laws and regulations pertinent to the use, protection, and navigation of waters.
- Reviews requests to moor vessels in channels for the repair of pipelines, submarine cables, removal of wrecks.
- Reviews requests to moor vessels in the navigation opening of bridges, repairs of fender systems and closing of waterways to navigation of repairs or construction work.
- Participates in special engineering analysis, investigations, and studies.
- Participates in various conferences and discussions for analysis and interpretation of the plans of the proposed work.
- Recommends concerning restrictions, conditions, limitation, publicity to be given to operations and other safety precautions.
- Reviews applications and plans for Department of the Army approval of proposed construction in, over, or under navigable waterways.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Biologist, 0401:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. Combination of Education and Experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
