Duties
As an Economist, you will:
- Serve as the Research and Analysis Lead.
- Lead research and analysis that underpins and informs how local, state, federal government, private sector, and NGOs engage in workforce development and job creation activities to support transition to an affordable, resilient, and reliable clean energy system.
- Guide Office of Energy Jobs research and analysis priorities; direct, implement, and manage portfolio research and analysis projects and future funding.
- Lead projects including the U.S. Energy and Employment Report and the Energy Workforce Needs Assessment.
- Collaborate across Department of Energy (DOE) including with national labs, interagency, and implementers to guide decision making and set policy priorities.
- Conduct, commission, and communicate relevant research to support the development and engagement of a diverse and skilled energy workforce.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Basic Requirement for Economist: Transcripts must be provided.
A. Degree in Economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in Economics, and 3 semester hours in Statistics, Accounting, or Calculus.
B. Combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major in Economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. TRANSCRIPTS AND DOCUMENTATION OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
- Identifying energy industry challenges and opportunities related to private sector workforce needs as well as worker and training needs. AND
- Conducting economic modeling related to energy jobs data and labor economics conducting original labor economic research in the construction and/or manufacturing industries. AND
- Managing research and analysis funding and projects and summarizing and communicating complex data into easy-to-understand analysis. AND
- Engaging with diverse stakeholders including energy-related labor unions, energy sector workforce, labs, government, and private sector.
