This is a full-time academic tenure-track position with an initial term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. Faculty who attain the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor may have the opportunity to non-competitively receive a permanent appointment in the excepted service. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Academic accomplishment (an earned doctorate in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or another related field is preferred); 2) Demonstrated experience with governance at a department, school, or institutional level; 3) Extensive teaching experience with a demonstrated track record of teaching excellence; 4) Demonstrated experience with faculty development which includes mentoring junior faculty members; 5) Demonstrated pattern of sustained scholarship, research, and publication; and, 6) Demonstrated involvement in the national mathematics community via professional society and/or associations.
