The office works closely with all FAA Lines of Business (LOB) and Staff Offices (SO) to ensure and manage the delivery of privacy requirements (e.g. privacy compliance documents and assessments, privacy policy and providing training and awareness. The office currently responds to Privacy Incidents and manages the Identity Monitoring Code issuance process. It additionally oversees the handling and work loading of privacy act requests, appeals and complaints. The office also provides guidance for contractual terms involving privacy data. The office works closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC) when incidents involve privacy data.
Members of the Chief Privacy Office perform multiple, varying and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. They may act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a project manager or team leader for large IT projects/programs/activities. Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines. Typical assignments may include providing guidance to less-experienced professionals as well as senior managers and executives; leading project/program teams; designing and recommending solutions to complex problems; providing briefings; preparing and reviewing management reports and/or contractual documents; and developing and recommending improvements to IT systems and/or processes to improve privacy. The office additionally supports Public Affairs during privacy incidents that generate media interest, in coordination with agency processes and policy. Work is reviewed though status reports and at project completion, to ensure compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities. Work activities influence the objectives of one or more organizational units, major subdivisions and/or LOB's and SO's and may affect the objectives of the FAA. The work can often affect both internal/external customers and stakeholders.
If selected in addition to the above, you will be responsible for the following:
-Working with IT system owners to prepare and review privacy compliance documentation, including Privacy Threshold Assessment (PTA), Privacy Continuous Monitoring (PCM) Assessments, Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), System Disposal Assessment (SDA), System of Record Notices (SORN) and data sharing agreements.
- Assessing Privacy controls following NIST standards.
- Performing Privacy Compliance and Contract review inspections.
- Participating in privacy policy development and reviews.
- Providing an important liaison/advisory function to provide guidance for the protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to FAA Lines of Business (LOB) and Staff Offices (SO).
- Leading special projects and researching and providing recommendations regarding technology changes, which may affect privacy.
- Supporting PII, SSN Reduction and Data Loss Prevention activities.
- Plan and prioritize privacy tasking in order to complete activities according to schedules and within prescribed timelines.
- Developing and recommending approaches to address current and anticipated problems and issues and working with management to solve problems.

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I / FG/GS-13. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is: Experience in preparing and reviewing privacy compliance documents, such as Privacy Threshold Assessment (PTA), Privacy Continuous Monitoring (PCM), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), System Disposal Assessment (SDA) and System of Record Notices (SORNs) and assessing privacy controls.
