The 10-week career-exploration program (June 10 - August 16, 2024) offers a unique platform for students to learn about DOL and apply their academic knowledge and experiences to in-person, real-world scenarios through student trainee positions. Description of Duties:
Selected candidates will serve as Student Volunteers with DOL and will be placed within one of DOL's agencies or offices based on their skills and academic/career areas of interest. Students will have the opportunity to select up to three (3) duty locations and (3) areas of academic/career interest.
Types of Student Volunteer Academic/Career Interests
General Student Trainee (GS-0099) assignments can include the following: assist in basic research; qualitative and quantitative research; preparing briefing papers, and/or position papers; assist in the preparation of management reports; assist in the preparation of risk assessments, track and document changes, and/or collect and analyze data; Creating tables and graphs to present research findings; Writing and administering online surveys; Writing reports of research findings and all other duties assigned.
Assignments may be in one or more of the fields: Administrative and Program Support (program administration, policy, procedures, recordkeeping, etc.), Accounting, Budget, and Finance, Human Resources, Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance, Legal, Mathematics, Statistics, and Economics, Public Affairs or Communications, Project or Program Management (data collection and analysis), and Information Technology.

To be eligible for this unpaid student volunteer opportunity, you must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis at a qualifying educational institution, for the purpose of obtaining a diploma, degree, or certificate. Current students must have a grade-point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. If selected, you must maintain a 2.0 or higher-grade point average on a 4.0 scale throughout the duration of the program. You must submit with your application a current academic transcript and/or other official documentation from your academic institution demonstrating your eligibility for selection.
If you do not submit sufficient academic documentation necessary to demonstrate that you meet the eligibility described in this announcement, your application will be deemed incomplete, and you will be ineligible for further consideration for this vacancy.
An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university and vocational or technical institution.
