The OUSD(I&S) Congressional Activities Office assists the Under Secretary of Defense (Intelligence and Security) (USD(I&S)) and the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs (ASD/LA) on all Defense Intelligence and Security-related legislative matters covered within the Military Intelligence Program (MIP) and National Intelligence Program (NIP), ensuring that information is shared with Congress in such a way as to support the USD(I&S)'s vision and goals. The office monitors the intelligence and security components of the Services, the Intelligence Agencies, Combatant Commands, and works collaboratively with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, (OSD) Legislative Affairs (LA) and OSD/Comptroller staffs. The office also interfaces with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) legislative activities office.
The incumbent of this position is the Senior Advisor (Deputy Director) for Congressional Activities (CA) and will assist the Director, Congressional Activities, in vision and goals for communicating with Congress, developing and executing the legislative activities of OUSD(I&S). These include the development, preparation and presentation of materials, and advice in consultation with ASD/LA. Major duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
