Division of Administration (DOA):Interns may be assigned to one of the following areas: Acquisition Services Branch, COO and DOA Program Management, Corporate Services Branch, Human Resources Branch or Operations and Regional Coordination Branch and will perform various clerical tasks which involve providing support on division wide work products relating to, but not limited to, staffing; position management; training; records management; space and equipment management; web work and information security. The incumbent will assist in preparing reports, memoranda, and emails that may include matters of a sensitive nature. Other tasks may include compiling data; data entry into databases and spreadsheets; performing research on various topics/issues; responding to staff requests. (Located in Arlington, VA)
Division of Depositor & Consumer Protection (DCP): Interns assigned will perform clerical duties such as filing, typing and copying. Other duties assigned included are: data entry, generating routine reports, handling route requests and dissemination of information to the appropriate staff members in the office. (Located in Washington, DC)
Division of Complex Institution Supervision & Resolution (CISR): Interns may assist the Division’s Webmaster, support web liaison meetings, and supports web content coordination including the development of written materials and content for the Division’s website such as organization charts, current events, press releases, position papers and briefing materials; assist with SharePoint administration (i.e. user support, access trouble shooting and provisioning); supports technology aspect of meetings and conferences in collaboration with conference services.
Division of Insurance & Research (DIR): Interns should have familiarity with Microsoft applications to prepare recurring management and statistical reports and assist with presentation materials using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Interns will perform administrative tasks such as research, filing, data entry, proofreading, scanning documents, spreadsheet input, answering telephones, sorting mail and running errands. Student intern will assist with administrative tasks related to conference organization and program support including ongoing management of an email list. Interns will collect and tag data, create analytic datasets, and assist with the development, testing, and running of a variety of different machine learning models.
Division of Risk Management Supervision (RMS): Interns will perform duties including, but are not limited to assisting division staff in ensuring the financial condition of the banking industry through oral and written analyses; receiving, compiling, updating, and verifying data reported by headquarters, regions, field offices and others; providing assistance to division staff in preparing reports on various programs areas which serve as justification material for management decisions; and preparing recurring management and statistical reports. (Located in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA).
Division of Finance (DOF): As an intern in DOF, the duties assigned are contingent upon the type of internship. The internships offered and duties assigned to that internship are listed below: Assignments can range from work on financial reporting and analysis, accounting and tax policy, assessment collections, investments, payment processing, administering the FDIC’s travel and relocation program, coordinating the budget formulation and execution process, and management of internal controls and operational risks (Located in Arlington, VA).
Legal Division: An intern the Legal Division may be assigned to the following areas: Corporate Operations Branch; Litigation Branch; Supervision, Legislation & Enforcement Branch; or Resolution & Receivership Branch. Interns will be expected to handle daily clerical tasks as assigned by management including: intake of cases and correspondence; track both case paperwork and assignments using Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel; prepare case materials for assignment and distribution up through the supervisory chain; data entry including updating the status of matters in ALIS; photocopy case materials upon completion; and create case files and ensure the appropriate filing of records and document maintenance. (Located in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA).
Chief Information Officer Office (CIOO): The Division oversees the operations of the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer and Division of Information Technology. This office provides leadership, vision, definition and oversight of the FDIC information systems, information security and privacy programs. As FDIC's technology leader, the CIOO provides the FDIC with innovative and cost-effective IT solutions to support core business processes and to achieve mission-critical goal.

CG-03 level – Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study; OR have six months of general experience to include: progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled; OR have a combination of education and experience: equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

CG-05 level – Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree; OR must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-4 grade level or above in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: Providing administrative or technical support to a program operation, such as entering and tracking data for a program, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, and responding to inquiries by phone and/or in writing; Preparing correspondence, documents, and reports, including drafting and editing written materials; Using web based or standalone software, such as the Microsoft suite of products, and cloud-based document systems to enter data, organize and present information, and run reports.; OR have a combination of education and experience as listed below. Please note, only education in excess of 60 undergraduate hours may be used in this calculation.
Combination of Education and Experience - Your current education completed is credited as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and your current experience is credited as a percentage of the total experience required for the grade level. The two percentages are added and must equal 100% in order to qualify for the desired grade level.
An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.
Interns will be offered a salary at the base pay for the grade in which they are qualified and selected:
