Upon successful completion of the Pathways Program, candidates may be converted to a permanent or term position.
As an International Trade Specialist, the person selected for this position will:
Security Clearance: You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
You must be a recent graduate who has completed (or will have completed within the next 9 months), within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualify educational institution such as an accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum.

To qualify for the GS-07:
EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-05) in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as gathering and providing information to be used for analyzing trade policy and used in preparation of memos, briefings, or white papers on trade policy positions and priorities.
EDUCATION:
A. One year of graduate-level education in a field such as international policy, international commerce, international management, intercultural relations, international development, global economy, government and foreign affairs, international business, international trade, international economics, international affairs, international relations, or other related fields of study.
OR
B. Superior Academic Achievement as demonstrated by a bachelor's degree in a related field (such as global business management, global public policy, international finance, business administration, textile and apparel studies, political science, economics, marketing, international trade, international business, international affairs, international relations, international economics, or other related fields of study) from an accredited college or university with one of the following. NOTE It is your responsibility to ensure your application clearly states how you meet one of the provisions below: a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last 2 full years of undergraduate study; a GPA of 3.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale for required courses completed in a major field of study, or those courses completed in a major field of study during the last two years of undergraduate study; class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision of the college; membership in a national Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College honor Societies, excluding freshman honor societies.
OR
COMBINATION: A combination of related graduate level education and specialized experience.

EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-07) in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as researching trade data, analyzing trade policy, and preparing memos, oral briefs, or white papers on trade policy positions and priorities.
OR
EDUCATION: Two (2) years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Master's degree, a Master’s Degree or equivalent graduate degree in a field such as international policy, international commerce, international management, intercultural relations, international development, global economy, government and foreign affairs, international business, international trade, international economics, international affairs, international relations, or other related fields of study.
OR
COMBINATION: A combination of education and experience as described above.
Note: Only graduate education in excess of one year is qualifying for combination.
