Duties
Serves as the archivist for a park to design and manage the archival program within the museum program. Performs a preliminary evaluation of all records, archival, and manuscript collections within the records management guideline. Develops and maintains liaisons and effective working relations with related groups and individuals, agencies, and the public in order to encourage and facilitate cooperative regional management strategies. Accessions appropriate collections into the park museum collections.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level (of GS-9)

To be eligible an applicant must have received a bachelor's or advanced degree ( i.e. master's, Ph.D., or J.D) within 2 years of applying for employment under this authority. For these purposes, the graduate must have received a baccalaureate or advanced from an institution of higher education in accordance with section 101(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as codified at 20 U.S.C. 1001(a). Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Work requires frequent retrieval of records and books from storage areas with some bending and lifting of cartons of papers (weighing up to 50 pounds). Operation of standard office equipment is required. Documentary research and report writing is sedentary, which entails the ability to concentrate and write for long periods of time. Work is performed in the archives of a park. However, the position also requires performing work in the office of other research bureaus, museums, national parks, etc.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

The following are illustrative of kinds of experience that may be accepted as meeting the professional experience requirements: (1) experience as an archivist in Federal, state, religious institution, business, or other archives, or in manuscript depositories, and (2) experience of an archival nature that involved research in archival science, or in a directly related field such as history, government, economics, political science, international relations, or international law.
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
