Duties
As a Hydrologist (Recent Graduate), you will:
- Exercise independent judgment in developing and preparing daily streamflow forecasts, as well as oral and written briefings for BPA planning staff, for the Columbia River Basin.
- Develop, prepare and coordinate weekly and seasonal streamflow forecasts used in 60 to 180 day power planning forecasts, Actual Energy Regulation (AER) studies, and weekly ESP forecasts for power operations and planning studies.
- Maintain and improve BPA's streamflow modeling system and support software.
- Develop and implement computer software, spreadsheets, and databases to enhance the operational functions of the weather and streamflow forecasting group.
- Apply mathematics and statistical methods to evaluate hydrologic studies and technical literature, modeling and streamflow procedures, and hydrometeorological data.
- Provide technical hydrologic assistance in hydrologic climate and climate change studies.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: physical or natural science, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. The course work must have included at least 6 semester hours in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours in physics. Calculus and physics, as described above, are requirements for all grade levels.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
GS-07:
