Help

Designs, coordinates, and provides fire and arson investigation instruction and develops, chairs and conducts technical investigative courses, seminars and meetings regarding state-of-the-art techniques, procedures, and guidelines in the fire/arson field as it relates to law enforcement and the fire service
Utilizes multiple methods for assessing courses, improvement interventions and program objectives while providing input to others, both internal and external to the bureau in developing fire and arson investigation courses
Develops new and continual training programs relating to a wide range of specialized topics in the fire investigation field from basic to advanced graduate level courses (e.g., Special Agent Basic Training, Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) and CFI candidate training, National Response Team training, state and local training, etc.)
Maintains budget responsibility for developing, procuring, implementing and monitoring new equipment and training for programs while ensuring that funds are appropriately used to further the goals
Develops and manages multiple contracts to include preparing Statements of Work (SOW)
Advises management on significant issues or matters pertaining to Branch programs and projects, e.g., the impact of new technology, new initiatives, etc.
Serves as technical coordinator for all ATF fire and arson related safety programs at the National Fire Academy and other designated off site locations and participates in planning and implementing procedures to be followed by all agencies delivering training
Represents the Bureau in interagency meetings, conferences and ad hoc committees on Branch issues and program initiatives with policy officials

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-14 level candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13).

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience includes: Demonstrated experience in the classroom, course development and writing course material; experience in oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and experience coordinating with others including senior management to implement long term strategies.

The GS-14 Step 1 salary range starts at $121,316 per year. If you are a new federal (civil service) employee, your starting salary will be set at the Step 1 for this position and the grade level for which you are selected.
