As a Project Manager within the National Geospatial Program (NGP), some of your specific duties will include:
-Implements project plans to meet objectives; coordinates and integrates project activities; tracks project resources; monitors project activities and resources to mitigate risk; makes improvements, solves problems, or takes
corrective action when problems arise; gives presentations or briefings on all aspects of the project; participates in project reviews; identifies project documentation requirements or procedures; and develops and implements project plans.
-Coordinates and facilitates the implementation of the annual data acquisition plan for the elevation and hydrography themes of The National Map formulated by senior team members.
-Facilitates agreements and statements of work related to elevation and hydrography for work with other Federal agencies and external groups to support the objectives of TDS and NGP.
-Coordinates the logistics and manages content of the Theme communities on the Geospatial Platform or other portals and venues of the Federal Geographic Data Committee.
-Provides consultation and advice on special projects and data acquisition processes based on knowledge and experience with a range of users, partners and other stakeholders, and through participation in the activities of the national geospatial community.

In addition to the basic education requirement as stated above, applicants must have one year of appropriate professional experience in cartography that is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service.
Examples of such experience may include developing and monitoring the production of geospatial data to support agency geographic information systems and hardcopy map generation for a staff unit; working on inter- and intra-agency committees to develop and/or revise Federal standards for geospatial data; revising agency cartographic standards and specifications; providing staff advisory, consulting, and reviewing services; applying standard cartographic practices to new situations and solving novel or obscure problems; exercising initiative and originality in the solution of cartographic problems; and/or serving as a technical authority on all aspects of cartography. At this level, cartographers have extensive knowledge of the principles of cartography and highly developed ability in their application, and wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment to perform scientific work of marked difficulty and responsibility.
