There is only 1 position located in New Mexico. It may be filled in Santa Fe or in Albuquerque. If this position is filled in Santa Fe it may be moving to Albuquerque, the date of the move has not been determined. If you accept the New Mexico position, you agree to work in either Santa Fe or in Albuquerque. If the office moves from Santa Fe to Albuquerque you agree to move with it.
This position serves as a land surveyor in a Bureau of Land Management Office. The land surveyor will perform work which involves measurement of public lands, including establishing, investigating, and reestablishing land and property boundaries, including preparing plats and legal descriptions for plats of land; and work that involves knowledge and application of the principles of land surveying in combination with knowledge of land ownership laws. Duties include serving as the State Office public relations contact concerning major boundary surveys, land ownership issues, and other legal and technical matters related to Federal interest lands that affect recognized Indian Nations and other Federal agencies; planning, directing, documenting, and guiding complex surveys and boundary investigations; designing and collecting accurate geodetic data; preparing field notes of surveys in final form from field returns and preparing plats of surveys in near final form; serving as party chief of one or more survey crews; and researching and preparing responses to inquiries pertaining to cadastral surveys or official survey records and land ownership.

(2) Ability to analyze existing survey records and geodetic data to enter precise coordinate data and attributes into the Geographic Data Coordinate Data Base (GCDB);
(3) Ability to research, analyze, document, and collect existing survey, land status, title information, and geodetic data to create Special Instructions, prepare survey records, and present information orally and in written documents; and
(4) Knowledge of Cadastral Survey concepts, legal requirements, policies, and practices to review survey records, analyze existing survey records, and provide technical assistance and training to others.
