Duties
The incumbent serves as a Biological Science Technician (Habitat) assisting with plant habitat surveys and conservation projects.
Data Management and Support:
The incumbent uses a variety of databases and reporting systems to store, compile, and analyze data from studies. Collects biological samples ensuring correct documentation, reporting, storage, transport and delivery of samples taken. Uses automated databases to enter, organize and perform preliminary analysis of collected data, using standard statistical methods in preparation of reports.
Habitat/Plants:
The incumbent participates in multifaceted plant studies, including carrying out a variety of research and survey methods, analyzing established data, and monitoring environmental elements such as temperature, humidity, etc., and how it impacts plant health. Uses field equipment including cameras, GPS equipment, binoculars, rangefinders and computers in order to capture survey data or for other records. Conducts and/or monitors grazing activities, water control structures, and/or management monitoring studies. Identifies native and exotic flora and fauna.

- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrated your ability to 1) assist with the collection of seeds, propagation, handling, and caring for federally listed plants or host plants of federally listed species; and, 2) assist in the planning and conducting of wildlife censuses and surveys.; OR
- Completion of a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics etc. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled. ; OR
- Have a combination of education and experience as listed above.
