Duties
The Navajo Area Biomedical Engineering Program has the Area-wide responsibility to provide resident scientific technical and engineering expertise to meet the biomedical engineering needs and provide direct patient care support, namely in the following primary functions:
- Repair, calibration, and performance of preventive maintenance on biomedical, x-ray, and dental equipment;
- Coordination and monitoring of the safety and accreditation programs related to biomedical engineering and insurance of compliance with JCAHO requirements;
- Provide technical expertise in the selection, installation, modification, testing, and evaluation of biomedical, x-ray and dental instrumentation and equipment;
- Provide consultation and training services to professional, technical, and administrative personnel in technical capabilities, applications, and operational requirements of biomedical, x-ray and dental equipment;
- Provide training programs for biomedical engineers, technicians, and repairmen;
- Provide solutions to complex and unique instrumentation system problems and requirements where no previous designed solution are available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Work related to Biomedical Equipment Technician or Equipment Specialist, Service Engineer, Field Engineer, Medical Equipment Service Technician involved in the repair, calibration and maintenance of medical x-ray equipment, involved in the scheduling of medical equipment preventive maintenance, review and interpretation of schematics and testing procedures, installation of x-ray equipment, x-ray utility requirements, knowledge of radiation safety, knowledge of compliance with regulatory agencies in the health care setting.

Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such degree or LL.M., if related.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
