The Birmingham Veteran Affairs Medical Center (BVAMC) is seeking one (1) full-time permanent Psychiatrist for the Mental Health Service Line Team at the Huntsville CBOC with the Birmingham VA Medical Center .This Psychiatrist will coordinate and function as part of a multidisciplinary team providing outpatient mental health care to Veterans.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 49-54 days paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days' sick leave, 10 federal holidays).
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

The primary duties of this position will include screening, assessment, diagnosing and treatment of Veterans with acute and chronic psychiatric disorders according to standard and usual and acceptable methods and techniques. This Psychiatrist will observe behaviors and reaction patterns to modify treatment plans and medications for mental health Veterans. This Psychiatrist will be expected to work independently and make appropriate referrals to the community or other professional resources, as needed. This Psychiatrist will lead interdisciplinary team members and provide clinical services to the Veterans. Birmingham VA Medical Center is a teaching affiliate with UAB and nurse practitioner collaboration and trainee supervision may be required.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 4 day 10 hour shifts.
