Salary Information
GG-14 ($112,021 – $145,629) per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
The ACHP has determined that the duties of this position are eligible for ad hoc and regular/recurring telework after successful completion of a 1 year trial period.
Please note that this is a senior position with the ACHP and, as such, candidates are expected to have extensive experience. While it is not required for consideration, the ACHP prefers candidates for this position to possess at least 10 years of professional experience in the public affairs arena.

The major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1) conducts the public affairs and media efforts of the agency;
2) plans, directs, and executes national publicity campaigns;
3) serves as project manager and the authoritative resource for media;
4) provides authoritative advice and consultation with regard to public relations and the media;
5) researches, writes, and edits speeches and materials for leadership;
6) writes, documents, and manages the interpretation of complex case information, and reports on existing, new and proposed legislation and regulations;
7) works directly with program offices in the agency to coordinate, plan, and execute projects to convey information and to ensure awareness of projects/programs;
8) co-manages the ACHP’s new media strategy, and manages the ACHP Facebook page and other platforms as needed;
9) plans and directs special events, ceremonies, tours, and other activities, interacts directly with VIPs;
10) co-manages the ACHP awards program;
11) communicates with congressional staff and offices, leadership at federal agencies, and other organizations;
12) serves as a project manager on Communications, Education, and Outreach initiatives, with ability to manage projects from start through deployment as requested by supervisor;
13) establishes and maintains effective working relationships with editors, reporters, and other members of the media and specialized audiences interested in the ACHP’s work;
14) responds to information requests from the news media and general public on the ACHP’s work;
15) serves as agency spokesperson, engages the media, and supports public meetings as needed, and determines opportunities for and proactively places press releases, stories, op-eds, and media outreach;
16) keeps agency management aware of comments, negative publicity, and criticism; and
17) prepares articles for publication in various media and proactively brainstorms story ideas and ways to raise awareness of historic preservation.

Current Federal employees or individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check; these will be handled on a case-by-case basis in coordination with the Bureau security office.
