Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties
- Perform electronic and mechanical maintenance and repairing of combat vehicle systems.
- Isolate faults between inter-related electrical, electronic, electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Utilize common and specialized hand tools to perform maintenance and repairs of electrical weapon systems.
- Apply standard electrical principles in identifying and determining corrective repairs on electronic equipment.
- Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, drawings, automated data, work orders, and wiring diagrams.
- Perform functional tests of all components in the turret including electrical, mechanical, pneudraulic, electro-mechanical, electro-optics, and electronic fire control systems.
- Determine repair requirements, from oral instructions, or supporting documentation , and applying knowledge of electronic theory to assure most effective methods, techniques, and tools are utilized.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic systems for leaks, defective lines, and other information.
- Make adjustments and assure the erecting and launching devices are properly installed and working together with the turret, and base, as a complete subsystem.
- Determine feasibility of making needed repairs and makes recommendations to supporting organizations.

- Work requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance. Occasionally work in high places may be required.
- Work is usually performed in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Exposed to dirt, grease, dust, exhaust fumes, and high noise levels. Subject to the possibility of injury such as cuts, bruises, burns, electrical shock, and falls from equipment. Work may be performed outside in inclement weather. Required to wear safety equipment/clothing as prescribed for the area in which work is performed.
