This position is located at Fort Drum, NY near Watertown and the Canadian border; not near Syracuse or New York City. Position is located with Community Operations Division. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:
Works under close supervision or a higher graded
supervisor of higher grade who provides specific instructions for tasks to be
performed.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Takes orders from patrons for food and
beverages. Ensures customers are satisfied in service provided and takes action
to correct any problems. Presents menus to patrons and answers questions about
menu items. Prepares checks that itemize and total meal costs. Maintains sales
record. Removes dishes and glasses and wipes down tables and
counters.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to follow simple oral and
written instructions, and, an understanding of food and beverage handling
techniques.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Receives close supervision and
guidance. Waiters are assigned stations by the supervisor and are given special
instructions as necessary. They are held responsible for complying with standard
methods and procedures such as conduct, etiquette, dress code, serving
techniques and demonstrate familiarity with the menu.
PHYSICAL
EFFORTS:
Stands and walks for long periods. The work requires the use of
both arms, hands, and legs, and involves prolonged standing, walking, reaching,
and light lifting. Continually lifts and carries items weighing less than 10
pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work of waiters is usually
performed inside with adequate lighting and heat, and are exposed to the
possibility of cuts, bruises, and slippery floors when in the kitchen area.
Conditions of Employment:
1. A one-year probationary period may be required.
2. Meet all qualification/eligibility requirements.
3. A completed and signed copy DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
4. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-VERIFY) check.
