Duties

Help
  • Installs, replaces or repairs items involving moderate complexity within the following systems: ignitions, exhaust, brakes, air conditioning, front suspension, emission control, fuel, starting, and drive train assembly (u-joints, pinion seals.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions/failures and performs required adjustments/repairs using a variety of test equipment, such as tech, dwell, timing light, oscilloscopes.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose compression gauges, emission analyzers, engine and chassis dynamometers, charging system meters, combustion analyzer, air conditioning, and diagnostic unit. Explain repair requirements and estimates to patrons, as required.
  • May give safety instruction classes to patrons. Insures compliance with fire, safety, sanitation and security regulations. Maintains tools and work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Stands, stoops, bends, stretches, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods of time. Frequently lift, handle, and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds)/ or over 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
